MEET MATTHEW DOOCEY National
I’m a Cantabrian born and bred. My wife Viktoria and I returned home from the UK earlier this year. We’re expecting our first child in the New Year. I’m looking forward to bringing up our kids here and I’m determined to make a contribution as Canterbury rebuilds from the devastating earthquakes.
My family are all proud Cantabrians who have served our city well. My dad Tom Doocey recently retired as Chairman of Sport Canterbury. My grandfather Maurice Carter was a councillor for 33 years and established the Maurice Carter building company, which built thousands of homes in Christchurch. He also set up the Carter Charitable Trust, which continues to fund Christchurch causes.
I’m a healthcare manager at the Canterbury District Health Board. I’ve built my career in helping families and individuals take control of their lives. As the MP for Christchurch East I’d like to draw on these strengths and be your voice inside government. Now more than ever we need stable and reliable leadership focused on the things that matter to Christchurch families. National’s plan for jobs, growth and a stronger economy is working. it’s helping pay for things like education, healthcare and the rebuild.
“IF YOU’RE GENEROUS ENOUGH TO VOTE FOR ME ON 30 NOVEMBER, I PROMISE TO BE A FIERCE ADVOCATE FOR THE EAST AS WE BUILD A BRIGHTER FUTURE TOGETHER”.
